BRADFORD West MP Naz Shah described the situation at Bradford flats deemed to be unsafe as "appalling".

Residents living at the Laisteridge Lane Student Village were told to move out earlier this week after “risks that pose a real threat to lives” were uncovered.

A letter detailed a horrendous catalogue of issues, largely centred around fire safety measures.

Ms Shah said: "It is appalling to see people living in these flats were forced to leave in such a manner after it seems like the building has been unsafe for quite some time."

She added: "I will be writing to Bradford Council and working with them to ensure a proper investigation is conducted, to better understand how such severe failings were left ignored for so long."
