A MAN has been banned from driving for three years after being caught over double the alcohol limit in Wales.
John Clegg, 39, of Lark Street in the Bingley area of Bradford, pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle while over the prescribed limit last Monday (March 14) at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court.
It related to January 26 this year when Clegg was stopped in a white Ford Transit van on Tondu Road, in the Bridgend area of Wales.
A breathalyser test was conducted on Clegg and he blew a reading of 87 micrograms (mg) of alcohol.
This is more than two times the legal limit for drivers in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, which is 35mg per 100 millilitres of breath.
Clegg was also sentenced on the same day he pleaded guilty.
He was disqualified from driving for 36 months and ordered to pay £239 to the court.
This included a £120 fine, a surcharge of £34 to fund victim services and £85 in costs.
It will be paid in monthly instalments of £20 from April 11.
Clegg's guilty plea was taken into consideration by the court when sentencing.
