A MAN must pay compensation after stealing £150 worth of scrap metal.

Anthony Patrick O'Reilly, 32, of Broadstone Way, Holme Wood, appeared before Bradford Magistrates' Court earlier this week to be sentenced.

He was charged with theft - other - including theft by finding. Court documents state that he stole the scrap metal in Heckmondwike on March 1 last year.

O'Reilly was ordered to pay compensation of £150, as well as costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

A collection order was made and an application was also made for benefit deductions, with the sum to be recovered totalling £235.

The court documents state that O'Reilly's guilty plea was taken into account when imposing the sentence.

The outstanding balance must be paid by April 4.
