IT HAS been reported this evening that former Lord Mayor of Bradford Irene Ellison-Wood has died.
Irene served as Lord Mayor from 2004 to 2005 and was a Labour councillor in Keighley West, representing local people for 17 years.
As a mark of respect, the bell at City Hall will toll for one hour from 12 noon on Wednesday, 23 March.
Flags will also be lowered to half-mast at all council buildings in Bradford, Shipley, Bingley, Keighley and Ilkley.
Lord Mayor Councillor Shabir Hussain said: “I am very saddened to hear of the death of former Lord Mayor, Irene Ellison-Wood.
“She worked tirelessly for the people of Keighley and will be remembered fondly.
“Our thoughts go out to her family and friends at this very sad time.”
