A BRADFORD man is to appear in court after allegedly blockading a slaughterhouse.
Thomas Lee Newman, 26, of Swan Hill, Frizinghall, denies an offence of deterring a person from engaging in a lawful activity.
He is alleged to have trespassed at Tulip Foods, Dukinfield, in Greater Manchester, back in September 2020.
The charge states: "On 7/9/20 at Dukinfield, having trespassed on land, namely Tulip Foods , and in relation to a lawful activity, namely the slaughter and receiving of livestock, which persons were engaged in on that land, did an act, namely trespassed on the roof space and barricaded entry and exit points, which you intended to have the effect of intimidating those persons or any of them so as to disrupt/obstruct them or any of them from engaging in that activity."
Newman has been remanded on conditional bail until May 17 to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court.
