LATEST NEWS: COMMUNITY STARS AWARDS: A night of reflection and celebration after pandemic lay-off

THE 2021 Community Star Awards will celebrate the district's unsung heroes in a big event this Wednesday at the Bradford Hotel.

The awards, hosted by the Telegraph and Argus and Bradford Council, originally had to be postponed due to Covid-19.

A spokesperson from Bradford Council said: "The Community Star Awards 2021 are now taking place this Wednesday at the Bradford Hotel. The awards were unfortunately postponed last year due to the coronavirus situation at the time but it is back now, bigger and better.

"The awards, which have been organised by Bradford Council and the Telegraph and Argus, aim to recognise the district's often unsung heroes, with nominations put forward by members of the public.

"There are 12 categories in this year's awards, which celebrate those who have gone the extra mile for their communities, given a helping hand to those in need and overcome challenges.

"Four awards this year will be sponsored by the following organisations Betterstart Bradford, Bradford for Everyone, Incommunities and Volunteer Centre Bradford."

The 12 awards categories include: Good Neighbour, Outstanding Contribution to Early Years, Shared Values in Action, Voluntary and Community Group, Volunteer of the Year, Young Active Citizens, Business Making a Difference, Fundraiser of the Year, Outstanding Student of the Year, Covid Community Star, Covid Business Star and Covid Public Service Star.
