A BRADFORD man has avoided jail for a string of thefts from city shops including stealing woolly hats.

Billy Maven, 26, of Grantham Road, was given an overall sentence of jail for six months, suspended for 18 months for the offecnes.

He was committed to prison for three months, suspended for 18 months, and ordered to pay a £128 victim surcharge, for stealing woolly hats, worth £60, from Next, Forster Square, Bradford, on February 19, 2022.

He was jailed for three months, to run consecutively, suspended for 18 months, for stealing DVD boxsets, worth £60, from The Broadway, Bradford, on February 10, 2022.

He was committed to prison for one month, suspended for 18 months, to run concurrently, for criminal damage to property - value over £5,000 – for damaging the wall and blinds at Block B, Grattan Studios, Grattan Road, Bradford, on October 23, 2021.

Maven was jailed for three months, to run concurrently, suspended for 18 months, for stealing digital video discs, worth £22, from The Broadway, Bradford, on February 13, 2022.

He was also committed to prison for three months, to run concurrently, suspended for 18 months, for stealing an electric toothbrush, to an unknown value, from Boots, The Broadway, Bradford, on January 24, 2022.

He was committed to prison for one month, to run concurrently, suspended for 18 months, for failing to surrender to police/court bail at the appointed time, on March 10, 2022.

Maven pleaded guilty to all charges when he was sentenced at Bradford & Keighley Magistrates’ Court on March 15, 2022.
