A REDEVELOPMENT of the Richard Dunn site or improvements to Odsal Stadium could be included in a multi million pound bid for government 'levelling up' cash.

The Government's Levelling Up fund allows Councils to bid for up to £20m of funding for a specific regeneration project in each Parliamentary constituency.

Last year Bradford West was awarded £20m for the development of a new "leisure, wellbeing and enterprise centre" on Squire Lane.

That was part of the first round of funding, and work is underway on preparing bids for future funding rounds for the remaining five constituencies in Bradford.

Bradford Council has previously said the bid for the Shipley constituency would likely be for a replacement swimming pool for Bingley.

A recent report into the future of Bradford's museums service hinted the Bradford East bid could include the creation of a "creative and cultural hub" at Bradford Industrial Museum.

At a meeting of Bradford Council on Tuesday, Councillor Joan Clarke (Wyke, Bradford South Independents) asked what bids were being proposed for the Bradford South constituency.

A response from the Council Executive said: "We are gathering proposals for Bradford South, Keighley, Bingley and Bradford East.

"During the first Levelling Up Fund round process we briefed constituency members across the district on schemes that were being considered.

"As per that briefing, Bradford South includes assessing options for the development of Odsal Stadium, future potential for the Richard Dunn site and proposals for bringing development land forward adjacent to the M606."
