A BRADFORD doctor has warned ‘Covid is still out there’ after the remaining travel restrictions were lifted.

From today, the time-consuming passenger locator forms requiring people to fill in travel details, their address in the UK and vaccination status, alongside tests for all arrivals, have been scrapped by the government.

The move has been hailed by travel bosses, including Tony Mann, of Idle Travel.

But Dr Amir Khan has warned Covid is still out there and cases are rising.

Speaking on today’s Good Morning Britain, he said: “It’s undoubtedly good news for the travel industry and holidaymakers.

“We’re in a much better position when it comes to vaccines and therapeutics when it comes to treating people with Covid.

“We’ve got to be under no illusion, Covid is still out there and cases are going up, in the UK and around the world.

“We think the cause for the rise in the cases in these countries is an offshoot of the Omicron variant.

“We don’t quite understand why people understand differently to the coronavirus virus.

“This is not a mild disease for many people.

“What we want to see is just a bit of common sense really. We don’t want to see free tests going away.”
