CZAJKA CARE GROUP
This month, the team and residents at Czajka Care Group have celebrated several special occasions including Pancake Day, International Women’s Day and Social Care Day, as well as big birthdays and a very special wedding anniversary.
Czajka Care Group’s managing director, Konrad Czajka, said: “It’s been another busy month for our family of staff and residents across our five fabulous nursing and care homes.”
The dedicated team at Czajka provides respite care, short-breaks, day care, full-time care and palliative care for people aged 65 and over at Fairmount Nursing Home and Brookfield Care Home in Nab Wood, Shipley and Currergate Nursing Home in Steeton and Beanlands Nursing Home in Cross Hills, between Skipton and Keighley.
Czajka Care Group also owns and runs Staveley Birkleas Nursing Home - the specialist nursing home in the North - which cares for young people from the age of 18 through to 64, who have a variety of needs including amputees, people with brain injuries, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Motor Neuron Disease, Huntington’s, Epilepsy and many other complex conditions.
Konrad added: “We have spent time reflecting on the wonderful care given by our compassionate team and remembered those that we have lost, as part of Social Care Day, with handwritten notes of thanks from residents and tributes to friends who have passed, being shared and displayed. As part of International Women’s Day our female residents were pampered with hairdressing and beauty treatments, and we celebrated a 95th birthday and 90th birthday as well as a 63rd wedding anniversary with fabulous parties and cakes.
“We have also been heartened by the response of our staff and residents who worked together to collect and package up much needed donations for Ukraine. With Covid restrictions lifted, our residents have enjoyed a number of day trips too, including a day at the National Science and Media Museum, as well as theatre and cinema trips.
“Our links with the local community have been strengthened with the children from Saltaire Primary School sending our residents some wonderful and uplifting pictures based on the Charles Mackay book, 'The Boy, The Fox and The Horse'. We were very impressed with the quality of the artwork and the thoughtful and positive messages. We also enjoyed another wonderful visit from Mary and her gorgeous pet therapy dog, Cocoa!
“Food plays an important part in our residents’ day, and we have been lucky to sample a fabulous Portuguese feast courtesy of one of our younger residents at Staveley Birkleas, tasty pancakes for Pancake Day and some of the best fish and chips in Yorkshire – with a trip to Murgatroyds in Yeadon.
“As usual, our activity teams have been on fine form organising bingo sessions, live music shows and encouraging our residents to limber up for musical therapy sessions. They have also been busy in the garden planting pots and organising several craft sessions.
“We are all extremely grateful for the compassion, kindness, creativity and energy brought to our homes by our dedicated team and are looking forward to even more activities and events next month.”
