A BRADFORD man has been forced to pay thousands after arriving in England without proof that he had tested for Covid-19 during his stay abroad.
Walid Mohammed, of Union Road, landed at Manchester Airport on March 11, 2021, without any reasonable excuse for not booking a Day 2 and Day 8 test.
This was contrary to regulations 3B(2) and 6(1)(ab) and (4) of the Health Protection (Coronavirus, International Travel) (England) Regulations 2020.
The 33-year-old was fined £1760, had to pay a £176 victim surcharge, and £90 in court costs.
He has until April 4 to pay the £2,026 total.
The case for the offence 'person arriving in England failing to possess coronavirus testing package' was heard at Greater Manchester Magistrates' Court on March 7.
