ONE of the country’s top comedians says he is looking forward to performing his first major show in Bradford as part of his latest UK stand-up tour.

Milton Jones, who has starred on TV shows including Mock The Week and Live At The Apollo, is currently embarking on his UK tour titled Milton:Impossible, where he tells the audience about his previous life as a spy.

He takes to the stage at St George’s Hall on October 9, one of 35 dates he has for the show this autumn. Milton has already completed dates in February and this month, with another batch of gigs planned for May across the UK.

But the experienced comedian, who won the Perrier Comedy Award for Best Newcomer in 1996, says he cannot recall playing in one of Bradford’s bigger venues before.

Milton said: “I don’t think I have ever played in Bradford, don’t ask me why.

“I may have done a club gig years and years ago, but never a theatre there. Bradford is virgin territory for me. Bradford has escaped me. I’m looking forward to playing there.

It’s very rare. I can usually look at a map or go past a signpost on the motorway and say ‘I have been there

His Milton: Impossible tour started in late 2019, with dates forced to be postponed until this year due to the pandemic.

Milton says people can look forward to a night of escapism and quickfire jokes when they see him.

He said: “I started the tour at the end of 2019/beginning of 2020, then there was a small interlude that we all had.

“I started the tour again last autumn. I think people are glad just to be out and having a good time.

“It’s nice to be back in the saddle and doing stuff.

My show gives people escapism, which is what people need to the moment. They can get out and away from everything that’s bad

“It’s full of jokes. There are between 200 and 250 jokes in my show.

“I get a nice age range of people who come to my shows as I have done Mock The Week and Radio Four shows.

“My show is all very accessible, certainly if you like silly stuff.”

Milton will also be playing at Leeds City Varieties on October 6 as part of the autumn leg of his tour. Go to bradford-theatres.co.uk or miltonjones.co.uk for ticket information on his tour dates.
