PLANS to turn a former solicitors into "lock up shops" and flats have been submitted to Bradford Council.

The application, submitted by Arshad Ahmed, if approved would see the former Patel & Bhatoa Solicitors in Leeds Road, Thornbury, renovated for mixed use.

Sandwiched between Thornbury Avenue and Thornbury Drive, next door to a butchers and opposite a florists, it had been used as a solicitors for more than 12 years, with offices on the ground and first floor and a flat in the attic space.

Under the proposed plans, the ground floor would be separated into three separate units, described as "lock up shops", with a shopfloor, office and toilet facilities in each and two new doors installed to the front of the building.

The first floor and attic floor would be reconfigured, to create four one-bedroom flats, each with a kitchen, living room, bathroom and double bedroom.

The "lock up shops" would be operational from 8am to 8pm on weekdays, 9am to 6pm on Saturdays and 9am to 4pm on Sundays, if approved.
