A CHARITY has opened a superstore in Bradford today, offering clothes and accessories for sale, as well as new and preloved furniture.

The superstore is just the second shop of its kind for Barnardo’s, and is 10,000 sq ft in size.

Located in Forster Square Retail Park on Valley Road, it has sections in store selling men's, women’s and children’s clothes, shoes and accessories. There is also a range of new and pre-loved household items and refurbished electrical goods for sale.

David Longmore, head of store proposition and development from Barnardo’s explained more about what the store has on offer.

He said: “We are delighted to open our second superstore in the UK and our Bradford staff and volunteers have enjoyed the ceremonial ribbon-cutting to declare that we are officially open for business!

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

“The fun continues into the weekend with a children’s entertainer on Saturday afternoon. The money raised through sales in the superstore will go to help support Barnardo’s work with children – and the team is very proud to be a part of that.

“While Barnardo’s online shops have proved really popular, there’s a friendly and community feel to coming into a store - even if it is just to have a chat and a browse around.

“There is definitely a move by the public to buy clothes and household items sustainably – and we find people also want to dress to stand out from the crowd. That trend has seen a growing interest in our vintage and retro garments and accessories. And you just never know when you’ll pick up a designer bag or coat from us at a bargain price!

“We would also like to hear from people of all ages who are interested in volunteering with Barnardo’s and of course we welcome donations of items that we can sell."

He added: "We’re hoping lots of Bradford shoppers will call in and pay us a visit!"

The superstore also offers a free collection service to pick up furniture donations within a five-mile radius of the store.
