FAMILIES in Ilkley are being offered a free taster session to introduce them to the magic of forest school.

The session will be held by social enterprise group Get Out More and will take place on Saturday, March 19.

The Keighley-based group has a mission ‘to help people engage with nature to feel better about themselves in mind and body’. Its programme includes popular forest schools in local woodlands during the school holidays where children enjoy nature-based activities such as den building, tree climbing and campfire cooking.

Get Out More's profits are reinvested in the community and it makes sure that the services it offers can benefit those who need it most. To mark its 10th anniversary celebrations it is offering two free taster sessions for families – one in Ilkley, and another in Bingley.

Annie Berrington, founder and Managing Director of Get Out More, said: “Children thrive on being active outdoors in nature. We want to make sure more families know about our forest school programmes. Our free taster sessions will offer games, crafts, swings, and a campfire with marshmallows – fun for all the family.”

The activities will be led by experienced practitioners with the aim of bringing, what Get Out More describe as, the ‘magic of forest school’, to everyone.

There is no need to book for the sessions, but children must be accompanied by an adult.
