BIG plans to revamp the entrance to one of the biggest units at Junction 27 Retail Park in Birstall have been submitted for approval.

The application has been made by Furniture Village, which occupies the third largest unit on that section of the sprawling retail and leisure hub just off the M62.

The furniture store has re-submitted plans which were approved five years ago but have now lapsed as it never got round to making the changes.

In the plans it states the changes will make “improvements” to the appearance of the store, with several new windows added to the frontage of the unit.

Eight new floor-to-ceiling windows would be installed on the first-floor of the store, if approved, allowing a lot more natural light into the shop, with new signage panels fitted above the windows.

At ground level, the existing windows and entrance way would remain unaltered.

The changes would match the store up to the neighbouring furniture stores which dominate this portion of the retail park, with Sofology next door, and nearby Natuzzi all having large first floor windows.

This portion of the retail park is also home to Barker & Stonehouse, SCS, Currys PC World, Pizza Express, Zizzi and TGI Fridays.
