LATEST UPDATE: Police appeal for witnesses after assault in Bierley Woods

One resident said there has been a police presence around Bierley Woods and Gleneagles Close since 8.30pm yesterday, when forensic officers arrived and cordoned parts of the wood off.

They said: "All I know is that an incident happened yesterday afternoon between 1.15pm and 2.15pm.

“Police wouldn’t tell us what’s happened but asked if we had any CCTV footage.

"But forensics was down there last night at 11pm taking photos. It’s all cordoned off. Police have done a change over at 7am this morning."

The cordon remained in place and a police officer could be seen standing guard when the Telegraph & Argus visited the scene this morning.

West Yorkshire Police have been contacted for comment.
