A LIFE-SAVING defibrillator has disappeared from a sports ground in the Bradford district.

Keighley Cougars posted on its Twitter page just after 5pm today to issue an urgent appeal.

The defibrillator that is normally situated on a wall outside the Hall of Fame Bar at Cougar Park has gone missing.

The Twitter post said: "We're sad to report that the defibrillator outside the HoF bar has been taken.

"This is a lifesaving piece of equipment that we desperately need to be returned in case of emergency.

"If you have any info, call 01535 606044 or email info@cougarmania.co.uk."

The importance of having a defibrillator nearby at any location, including sports venues, has been heightened in the past year or so, with several high profile cases.

Danish footballer, Christian Eriksen, suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch last summer while playing in a Euro 2020 group game against Finland.

The now 30-year-old's heart was shocked back into rhythm by a defibrillator at the stadium, after medical staff noticed his heart had stopped beating, according to AED USA.

Eriksen has now made a full recovery and made his first start since that terrifying moment, at the weekend for Brentford.

A number of football fans in grounds supporting their teams have also been saved in similar circumstances, thanks to the proximity of a defibrillator.
