MEMBERS of Bingley Handbell Ringers are this week giving a talk on the ancient skill and its centuries-long presence in the town.

On Thursday Bingley and District Local History Society will host the talk at a meeting in Church House, Old Main Street, Bingley.

Bingley Bell ringers Jane Lynch and Ann Cossavella will give a talk covering aspects of almost 500 years of the History of Bingley Bells.

Information from fellow bell ringer Karl Grave’s book Yorkshire Tails -The Story of Bingley Bells will be used in the talk.

The session will also include stories about various bell ringers and other characters from the past who were associated with the history of bell ringing in Bingley.

In the course of the talk, they will also cover aspects of bell ringing as an ancient art and skill which continues to be practised at All Saints church in Bingley, and at churches and other venues across the country, to this day.

Admission to the talk is £2.50 and includes refreshments - tea, coffee and biscuits.

All are welcome to attend - there is no annual membership fee or joining fee.

The doors open at 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start on Thursday March 10 in Church House, Old Main Street in Bingley BD16 2RH.
