A NUMBER of motorists have appeared in court charged with using a mobile phone while driving on Bradford roads.

The drivers appeared before Bradford & Keighley Magistrates' Court over the past four weeks and were fined and given licence points. They were:

  • Mohammed Binyamin, 60, of Horton Grange Road, Bradford, was given six licence points, fined £40, ordered to pay £90 costs and a £34 victim surcharge for using a handheld mobile phone/device while driving a motor vehicle on a road - endorsable offence, on Thornton Road, Bradford, on August 12, 2021.
  • Zahrrah Jamil, 22, of Lytton Road, Bradford, was given six points, fined £40, ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £90 costs for using a handheld mobile phone/device while driving a motor vehicle on a road - endorsable offence, on Leeds Road, Bradford, on August 3, 2021.
  • Akbar Ali, 54, of Whetley Hill, Bradford, was handed six points, fined £41, ordered to pay £90 costs and a £34 victim surcharge for using a handheld mobile phone/device while driving a motor vehicle on a road - endorsable offence, on Leeds Old Road, Bradford, on August 1, 2021.
  • Sirtaj Khan, 42, of Tollgate Court, Bradford, was handed six licence points, fined £220, ordered to pay £90 costs and a £34 victim surcharge for using a handheld mobile phone/device while driving a motor vehicle on a road - endorsable offence, at Hamm Strasse, Bradford, on August 7, 2021.
  • Chris Aykroyd, 58, of The Birdwalk, Bradford, was given six points, fined £220, ordered to pay £90 and a £34 victim surcharge for using a handheld mobile phone/device while driving a motor vehicle on a road - endorsable offence, on Bowling Back Lane, Bradford, on August 19, 2021.
