A MAN has been jailed for a string of criminal damage offences and also for assaulting police officers in Bradford.

Daniel Lowther, 33, of Campbell House, Sunbridge Road, was handed a 34 week prison term for the numerous offences committed between August and September 2021.

Appearing via video link at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court, Lowther admitted some offences and was sentenced for others after being found guilty earlier in the month.

He admitted causing £1,000 of damage to a glass door at the Pizza Corner takeaway in Tong Street on September 4, and also admitted assaulting a police officer on the same day at Bradford Royal Infirmary, and failing to surrender on bail a month later on October 6.

He also admitted damaging a window on August 31 at Concept Housing Association in Pemberton Drive, Shearbridge, and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with the intent to cause fear of or to provoke violence on the same date.

The third raft of charges related to two offences he was found guilty of on February 10; on July 29 he assaulted a police officer in Horsham Road, Holme Wood, and on the same day in nearby Knowles Lane he caused £100 worth of damage to the window of a home.

The incident around Lowther's arrest on this date was caught on camera by a bystander, with the footage going viral on social media at the time.

He had also admitted failing to surrender for bail on August 20.

For the offences, Lowther was handed a 34-week prison term. Magistrates said jail time was necessary because of the seriousness of the offending, as Lowther had shown "a flagrant disregard for people and their property", the August incident was "an unprovoked attack of a serious nature", and he had carried out "deliberate attacks on public servants carrying out public duties".

They also said he had shown a "flagrant disregard for court orders".

Of the July arrest, police at the time said officers attended Denham Mount, Holme Wood, just after 9pm, on arrest enquiries for a male who was wanted on warrant and for offences of criminal damage.

They said: “The male resisted arrest and ran off from police officers, who then requested assistance from colleagues. He began to threaten officers, continuing to resist arrest, PAVA spray was deployed and he continued to resist arrest.”

He was eventually detained in Horsham Road.
