A MAN caught more than twice the drink drive limit while in a McDonald’s drive-through has been banned from driving for more than three years.

Joshua Phillips, 29, was caught behind the wheel while intoxicated in the drive-through of the fast-food chain’s outlet in Forster Square Retail Park in Valley Road.

He was driving a Ford Fiesta when he was caught committing the act on Friday, January 28.

He failed a breath test administered by police, blowing 77 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath, which is more than double the legal limit of 35mcg.

Appearing at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, February 23, Phillips, of Beacon Grove, Wibsey, pleaded guilty to the single offence of drink driving.

For his offending, Phillips was handed a 40-month disqualification from driving by magistrates.

He was also fined £120, ordered to pay costs of £85, and a surcharge to victim services of £34, for a total of £239, which must be repaid at an amount of £20 a month.

His disqualification can be reduced by 40 weeks if by he completes an approved course before July 2024.

A further charge of driving without insurance was withdrawn at the hearing.
