A NEW development of homes on a major Bradford site has been launched.

Northbeck Grange is located on the former Grattan factory site, off Ingleby Road, which was one of the biggest unused Brownfield sites in the district.

Bradford Council granted planning permission for Gleeson Homes to build the new estate in late 2019, seven years after Grattan’s Otto House headquarters was razed.

It’s Gleeson’s third active site in Bradford, alongside Carrwood Park in Tyersal and Calverley View in Fagley, totalling 565 new homes spread across the three developments.

Northbeck Grange, a development of 167 homes on Northside Road, launched earlier this month.

Construction is underway on the show homes, which are due to open in the summer, and the development will be under construction for around four years.

Gleeson said its first releases at Northbeck Grange, made up of two, three and four-bedroom homes proved “extremely popular” with more than 50 per cent of them being reserved within the first five days of being on sale.

The first homeowners can expect to move into their new homes in spring.

Andrew Davies, Regional Managing Director at Gleeson said: “We are delighted to launch our third development in Bradford, with prices starting from £147,995, showing our commitment to provide affordable, quality homes to those who needs them most.

“We expect there will be exceptional demand for our homes here, as there has been at our other Bradford developments.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for people in the area to escape the rent trap and own their own home.

“We are pleased to be supporting the local community by continuing to develop the local infrastructure, as well employing a workforce made up of local labour and contractors.”

An upcoming fourth site of 160 homes, named Squirrel Fold, is due to open later this year in Thornton. All roads on the development will be named after the Bronte sisters, their family and their works, to reflect their close connection with the village. Road names will include Charlotte Bronte Way, Villette Row, Shirley Mews, Jane Eyre Lane, The Professor Close, Bronte Way, Anne Bronte Avenue, Agnes Grey Lane, Elizabeth Bronte Mews, Bran well Bronte Close, Emily Bronte Road, Maria Bronte Drive, Patrick Bronte Court and Wuthering Heights.

A further two developments in Idle Moor and Bierley are in the planning stages. The homebuilder is seeking local labour and sub-contractors, including applications from local young people who are interested in joining the Gleeson apprenticeship scheme
