SIR- I would like to welcome Darren Parkinson of Clean Air Bradford's letter about Bradford's clean air zone. I've long wondered why people don't care about this.

Over the last two years, pubs (when open) and other different forums have staged lively debates about Covid-19. People have loved to pontificate on this. And the media driven public fear has been astonishing.

But mention air pollution and I get an overwhelming wave of indifference. It also instantly gets overshadowed by climate change which is a related but different issue.

Even in the last two years, world wide air pollution has killed far more people than Covid-19. It affects young people much more and includes ailments such as bronchitis, asthma and lung cancer.

It also never gets mentioned in the on going debates about face masks. Why is this?
