AN outstanding business that embodies the spirit of family values through and through is being sought for the Family Business of the Year.

Sponsored by Icestone Gelato, this 2022 Bradford Means Business Awards category is for established family firms across the industry sectors, and the winner will need to demonstrate sustained success across a broad range of measures.

Judges will also be looking at the aspirations of your business to demonstrate how both current and future family generations will be involved in the growth of the business.

Keighley-based Pennine Plus, an aerial and satellite installer and electrical products firm, won the award in 2021.

Pennine Plus has evolved since starting out almost 50 years ago as an aerial installation and television repair company but they still retain their customer-friendly approach.

After winning the award, managing director Geoff Higgins said: “We weren’t expecting this award at all but obviously it is very welcome.

“When the lads go out to customers, they are our ambassadors. That personal touch we have with the customer has kept us going for 50 years.

“A lot of big firms don’t want to talk to anybody any more - it is all internet-related, email and online etc. I know it’s a changing world but the more businesses that are like that, it gives us a better chance of succeeding because we want to talk to people.

“Community is what it is all about, dealing with people and delivering that personal service.”
