JUDGES will be looking for excellence in their field, ability to succeed, growth and best practice when it comes to awarding the Manufacturer of the Year for 2022.

Sponsored by Thorite, this Bradford Mean Business Awards category recognises that manufacturing creates economic growth and is the engine that drives the district’s economy.

Manufacturers contribute to the vibrancy of our communities through good business practices, innovative processes and productivity enhancements.

This award celebrates the successes of manufacturers in the district and in 2021 it was local company Ferno UK that triumphed in this category.

The Cleckheaton-based firm, which makes patient transport equipment, and managing director Jon Ellis last year told the Telegraph and Argus Ferno has been very busy during the pandemic.

He told the T&A: “It is absolutely fantastic.

“Fifty years in business this year and I could not be any prouder of my team.

“I have been in the business for 37 years and there is nothing better than good old manufacturing in not only England but Bradford, where I am born and bred.

“The secret to success in our business, because we are in a niche market in the medical device industry, is innovation.

“It is all about looking at that next step, bringing on board new product development so we can be successful in the future.”
