A MAN has been jailed for a racially aggravated incident in the accident and emergency department of a Bradford hospital.
Robert Wilson, 46, of Charles Street, Bingley, was committed to prison for 20 weeks for one count of Racially/religiously aggravated intentional harassment/alarm/distress - words/writing.
Wilson was convicted of, with intent to cause a man harassment, alarm or distress used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour thereby causing that or another person harassment, alarm or distress and the offence was racially aggravated.
The incident took place in the accident and emergency department of Bradford Royal Infirmary, Duckworth Lane, Bradford, on December 28, 2021.
Wilson was jailed as the offence was deemed so serious because it was aggravated by being committed while subject to a community sentence, because the offence was aggravated by the defendant's record of previous offending.
He was also ordered to pay £100 compensation, a £128 victim surcharge and £85 court costs for the offence.
Wilson pleaded guilty when he was sentenced at Leeds Magistrates' Court on Monday, February 21, 2022.
