THE reason behind a police presence at Bradford's main hospital has been explained.
The concourse at Bradford Royal Infirmary was closed off for a period this morning due to a "security alert".
It has now been dealt with and a West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "A bag was left unattended and a man came to collect it."
A spokesperson for Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said: “The main concourse at Bradford Royal Infirmary was restricted for a brief period this morning due to a security alert.
"The police have attended and declared the area safe.
"The concourse has now been re-opened for access.
“No-one was hurt and no damage was caused, but of course the security of our patients, staff and visitors is paramount."
