A BRADFORD swimming pool has been forced to suspend some of its sessions following "repeat incidents" sparked concerns.

Bradford Council say Eccleshill Pool & Gym, on Harrogate Road, will not be temporarily hosting their Swim For All sessions with immediate effect.

They say the issue relates to a small group who have being behaving unacceptably in the pool area causing disruption to those using the facilities.

The Council insist safety and security of their staff, and the public is of paramount importance and due to the numerous incidents, it has not been possible to ensure this.

All other sessions at the facility will remain unaffected and operate as normal.

A Bradford Council spokesperson said: “We regret to inform you that with immediate effect all Swim for All sessions at Eccleshill Pool will be temporarily suspended and not go ahead as advertised.

“Bradford Sport and Leisure Services core principle is to provide a clean, safe and enjoyable environment to all participants using our facilities.

"The safety and security of staff, contractors and members of the public must be our main priority at all times.

“Due to repeat incidents at Eccleshill, we have not been able to provide a service which meets our core principles.

"Therefore, we have taken the difficult decision to temporarily suspend the Swim For All sessions at Eccleshill Pool.

“All other sessions at the facility will remain unaffected and operate as normal.

“We will be working tirelessly within this time to ensure that when these sessions are reintroduced, we are providing the services that the local communities expect."

The spokesperson went on to add: “The issue of concern relates to a small group who have displayed unacceptable behaviour in the pool area which has caused disruption to those using the facilities.”
