IT is bad news for Bradford's grassroots teams this weekend, with matches on council pitches all postponed.

In a Tweet posted on their official page last night, Bradford Council said: "Due to the soggy conditions over the last week & with more heavy rain forecast, all our our grass sports pitches will be closed this weekend (19 and 20 February).

"Fingers crossed conditions improve and fixtures can be back to normal for the following weekend."

It is a particular disappointment for Bradford Sunday Alliance League Premier Division side Olympic, who were on a high after last weekend's incredible 7-0 West Riding County FA Sunday Cup semi-final win over Chequerfield FC Chequers.

Olympic had been due to play Low Moor in the league this weekend, and would have overtaken them and moved up to third or fourth with a victory.

Manningham Allstars meanwhile, would have had a weekend off anyway to lick their wounds.

The Sunday Alliance Division Two side were in WRCFA Sunday Trophy action last weekend, but bowed out at the quarter-final stage after losing 2-0 to New Inn.
