A CHEMICAL distribution firm with a depot in Bradford has won a customer experience award.

Brenntag UK, the global market leader in chemicals and ingredients distribution, employs 55 people, supplying customers in sectors such as food and drink manufacturing, pharmaceutical production, water treatment, power generation, and engineering.

Many of its suppliers are local, including third-party logistics partners, engineering companies, and building services

The firm received a gold award in the business-to-business customer experience category at the prestigious UK Customer Experience Awards 2021.

Judges commended the firm for its cultural transformation towards a CX focussed delivery, saying its something many companies strive for but struggle to achieve.

They added that it had been an exceptional entry, saying that the results in customer loyalty and turnaround were impressive, as well as the significant employee engagement and drive to provide a great customer experience across the entire organisation.

Shaun Myers, director of supply chain & service, said: “The award is for all our colleagues and the exceptional work they have been doing over the last few years to truly change our organisational culture and place our customers at the heart of it.

"To achieve the award for 2021 makes it all the more special as we had to work incredibly hard through the pandemic to ensure that supplies to all Critical National Infrastructure industries and related organisations continued.

"Whilst we sought to protect our colleagues as best as possible, we (the public) simply needed all of our drivers and operatives and a large percentage of our site-based colleagues to keep turning up, so we all had clean drinking water and the lights stayed on.

"This commitment was amazing, and our customers recognised and appreciated it.”

Richard Ward, president Brenntag Essentials UK & Ireland, said: “The last two years have more than likely been the most challenging times we have faced in our lives from both a personal and professional perspective.

"Throughout that time our colleagues have really made a difference to our customers and suppliers, and I am delighted that they have been recognised with this award as it is truly well deserved.

"The pride and commitment everyone has shown is inspirational to me and I am very proud to lead the UK business.”

The awards themselves give pioneers in customer experience an opportunity to demonstrate what makes them special.

As part of the judging Brenntag was scored across categories such as business strategy, goals and objectives, planning and implementation, stakeholder engagement, as well as innovation and creativity.
