A FAMILY has been left shaken and distressed after youths unleashed an attack on their home.

It unfolded on Monday night and saw the brazen pair kick the front door of the house, on Sharket Head Close in Queensbury, and throw stones.

Doorbell camera footage captured the hooded youths booting the front door before running away.

One of the youths kicked the door with such force that the letterbox flap flew off. The stone throwing was also caught on camera.

Police believe it is linked to other incidents which have happened recently in the village.

But Daniel Cook and his partner Claire, who live at the property with their children, don’t feel enough is being done to bring it under control.

Other incidents have seen abusive behaviour, including one last November when a snowball laced with stones was thrown at Claire and hit her.

Speaking about the latest incident, Claire, 33, said: “I feel really shaken, I could hardly sleep. It’s just horrible.”

She described the behaviour as “intimidating” in her safe space of home and added: “I just want them to back off and leave us alone. How would they feel if someone did it to their house? We’ve got young children in the house.”

Claire and Daniel have been left terrified at the prospect of something even worse happening.

“Luckily they didn’t get into the property,” said Claire.

“What if they had have done? That’s what’s going through my mind.”

Daniel, 42, added: “It’s driving us mad. We’ve had enough now and the parents need to take ownership of their children’s actions because it’s absolutely disgusting.”

The couple said they have been told to keep on reporting the incidents, but nothing happens. The footage was shared on social media and Daniel said he was “inundated” with messages in response.

One woman shared a video of a similar incident which happened on January 27 and said: “Initially they started with a knock, then over the space of an hour they came back numerous times and it got more aggressive each time.”

She chose not to report it to the police, hoping instead that parents would be able to sort the issues out. It’s not known if the same youths were involved in that incident.

Police confirmed the damage on Sharket Head Close is being investigated and said: “This is believed to be linked to other incidents which have occurred over a wider area in Queensbury recently and enquiries are continuing with partners to identify and take action against those involved.”
