AN "elderly" lady has been taken to hospital via ambulance following a two-car crash at a busy junction in Bradford this afternoon.

Fire crews from Shipley and Bradford were called to the crash, which was reported at just before 4pm, which involved two cars, believed to be a Peugeot and a Ford Focus.

The incident occurred at the junction of Idle Road, Bolton Road and Pendragon Lane in Bolton Outlanes, and the road remains shut this evening as police clear the scene.

An officer from Bradford fire station said no one was trapped in either vehicle so no extraction was required by "cutting up" a car, but an elderly lady had to be taken to hospital after being removed from one of the vehicles.

Ambulances and police attended the scene along with firefighters, and fire crews left the scene at about 5pm, when it was still being dealt with by police.

The West Yorkshire Police Duty Inspector was contacted regarding the incident but was "too busy" to offer any assistance.
