A MAN who threatened to kill a prison officer is set to be sentenced next month after admitting his crimes.

Haroon Shah, 26, had changed his plea to guilty when appearing at Leeds Magistrates’ Court on February 10.

Shah, of Olive Grove in Crossley Hall, threatened to kill prison officer Andrew Bradshaw at HMP Moorland in Doncaster, on September 6, 2019, intending that the officer would fear the threat would be carried out.

He has been committed to Bradford Crown Court to be sentenced for the offence, and is due before a judge on March 3.

He was remanded in custody until that date on the grounds that he was likely to commit another offence due to the nature and seriousness of the offences he has pleaded guilty to.

Depending on his culpability and the level of harm caused, Shah faces a sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
