A REPORT of a serious sexual assault in a Bradford park has been found to be "unsubstantiated".

Detectives issued an appeal for information last Saturday.

The force said police had been contacted in the early hours of the morning about the incident, which was alleged to have happened in Pit Hill Park, Holme Wood, between 5.50pm and 7pm on Friday, February 4.

A girl reported being approached by a man from behind, before she was subjected to a "serious sexual assault".

A large police scene was in place in the park to allow forensic examination and specialist searches to be carried out.

In an update today, a West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "An incident which was reported to police on February 4 at Pit Hill Park, Holme Wood, has been fully investigated and found to be unsubstantiated.

"A male arrested at the time has been released on bail."
