The fundraising goal to get a young girl to New York for potentially life-saving treatment has been met.

#GetBeautoSloan has reached its fundraising target of £317,00 in just six weeks with the support of their MP, Kim Leadbeater, and the local community.

In December 2020 Beau was diagnosed with Stage 4 High-Risk Neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive childhood cancer that has only a 50 percent chance of long-term survivorship.

Her chance of survival is dependent on treatment in Sloan, New York. Beau's mum, Shirley made a commitment on New Years Eve thst hse would raise the huge sum.

Initially, the fundraising effort would last till April, but having reached the target in February, any further money that is raised will go towards helping other children in need of the same treatment.

Beau and Shirley featured on BBC Breakfast on Wednesday morning to share Beau’s story with the nation.

After hitting the target, Shirley put out a video thanking everyone for their support and donations.

She said: Don’t be under any illusion that I do not realise that this is down to you. Thank you to your shares, your efforts and your dedication, everything you have done has sat me on that couch today and given me the opportunity to share Beau’s story to the nation.”

Kim Leadbeater, who has actively supported this fundraiser, said: "I'm over the moon that the fundraising target has been hit. People in the local community and far beyond have taken Beau to their hearts.

“Her courage and the strength and love of her Mum, Shirley, and her big sister, Redd, have been truly inspirational.

“So many events have been planned with more to come, and I hope people will continue to support these because, as Shirley has said, this is not just about Beau and any extra money raised will go towards helping all children with cancer get access to the treatment they need.

“The team at Solving Kids' Cancer has been a tremendous support to Beau and her family and I've offered to do all I can to help highlight the hope that if the vaccine trial is a success, it should be available on the NHS as soon as possible.

"I'm so proud of the way the people of Batley and Spen have come together to help."
