A PUBLIC consultation event about the redevelopment of the former HMRC site at Shipley will be held this Thursday at Victoria Hall in Saltaire.

Local residents have been invited to take part in the first public consultation, which is by appointment only in four one-hour slots from 4pm to 8pm.

In the invite to local resident developer Artisan Real Estate said: "We are pleased to present our concept proposals and welcome your comments and thoughts as we begin the design process ahead of a planning application to Bradford Council later this year."

It is the first of three public consultations, with two others to take place in April and May.

One local resident, Martin Short on Baildon, is hoping to attend Thursday's consultation to learn more about the proposals.

"It's a very big site," said Mr Short. "It's very significant and bang next door to Salts Mill.

"I'm very keen for the site to be developed in the right way. I don't want it to dwarf Salts Mill.

"The HMRC is an ugly old building, so when they knock it down, are they going to put something appropriate in that doesn't hide Shipley in the hills from the residents of Baildon?"
