THE closure of a major store in Shipley has been delayed by a few months, according to the High Street chain.
Wilko on Kirkgate was originally scheduled to shut for good this month, one of 15 of the high street chain's branches to do so.
But the company has now revealed the Shipley store will shut in November, as the new date agreed between the firm and the landlord.
A Wilko spokesman said: “Wilko confirms that it will be closing its Shipley store in November 2022.”
Speaking last month, a firm spokesman says it has briefed its team members in Shipley of the decision to close the store at the end of its lease in February unless more favourable terms can be agreed with landlords.
Cllr Martin Love (Green, Shipley) said last month he is shocked at the planned close, adding it always seemed a well-used store.
Earlier this month, Shipley Town Council wrote to Wilko bosses asking what can be done to prevent the chain from closing its store in the town.
A petition, organised by the Bradford District Green Party, has more than 800 signatures and has proven to be a popular store for locals.
