A COMMUNITY centre is inviting people interested in sewing and craftwork to take part  in a new project called The Friendship Quilt.

It starts tomorrow at The Sedbergh Youth & Community Centre and will run between 10am and 12 noon.

The sessions will run for eight weeks. Staff at the community centre came up with the idea to encourage people to come into the centre and get creative.

The Friendship Quilt will be crafted from scratch and will aim to reflect personal experiences, friendship and hope.

Lucy O’Farrell, from the centre, said: “The last couple of years have been hard for many and we hope that this project will encourage people, especially those who have been isolated, to come together to learn or utilise skills, form new friendships and get creative.

"Everyone will be supported in finding themes and designs and all materials will be provided.”

The Friendship Quilt starts on Monday, February 7 at the Sedbergh Centre, Huddersfield Road, Odsal, Bradford, and will run until Monday, March 28.

Admission is £2 per session with refreshments and equipment provided.
