A rape victim has been praised for her courage in bringing her violent attacker to justice.

As reported above, Christopher Davies, 52, was convicted by a jury after a trial of raping the woman more than three years ago and of assault by penetration during the same attack.

Yesterday, he was jailed for seven years and three months at Bradford Crown Court.

Afterwards, West Yorkshire Police Detective, Emma Lindley, who led the investigation, said: “I would like to praise the victim for coming forward and reporting Davies’ actions.

"It’s not been easy but she has shown courage throughout and I’d like to thank her for her bravery.

“I hope this sentencing brings comfort to the victim and also brings closure, as she moves forward with her life."

In a wider message to sexual assault victims, Detective Lindley added: “We take all reports of this nature seriously and anyone who is a victim of a sexual assault can rest assured we will do all we can to bring the perpetrators to justice.”
