BRADFORD crews attended a school fire last night as a teenager was arrested on suspicion of arson.

At 7.48pm on Tuesday, police received a report of an intruder alarm being triggered at Ash Green Primary School in Clough Lane, Mixenden, Halifax.

Officers were dispatched to the scene and found one of the buildings on fire.

Emergency services attended and a male was located.

The 19-year-old was arrested and taken to hospital for further treatment. He is currently in custody.

Officers remained at the scene of the fire, which is being treated as suspicious at this time.

Firefighters from the following stations attended: Illingworth, Halifax, Huddersfield, Bingley, Keighley, Cleckheaton, Mytholmroyd, Odsal, Rastrick and Bradford.

A police spokesperson said: "Enquiries are continuing today into the fire at Ash Green Primary School in Mixenden.

"A 19-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of arson is currently in custody."
