A DOG was found dead after being hit with several blows to the head in West Yorkshire.
On January 17, the Staffordshire Terrier was located in woodland just off Avenue Lodeve in Pontefract.
West Yorkshire Police - Wildlife & Rural Crime said: "On January 17, in woodland just off Avenue Lodeve, Pontefract a Staffordshire Terrier was found dead with injuries consistent with it having been hit several blows to the head.
"A crime has been recorded under the Animal Welfare Act, 13220038321.
"The dog does not match the description of any outstanding stolen animal.
"If anyone has any information, please contact 101 and quote the above number."
