ALMOST 40 homes in Bradford are still without power this morning following Storm Malik and Storm Corrie this weekend.

Thousands of homes across the North have been affected following damage to power networks due to the two storms which battered the country with high winds over the weekend.

Numerous trees were brought down causing significant disruption across the Bradford district over the weekend, and the impacts of the storms are still being felt this morning.

Two areas are hit by power outages this morning; in one area it’s hoped power will be restored by midday while in the other area it’s not known when power will return yet.

Thirty premises are affected in Bingley this morning, which Northern Powergrid said is because it’s had to switch off the power for safety purposes.

This is while engineers work on the cables and equipment that serves the area.

Northern Powergrid added: “We appreciate your patience and understanding.”

Meanwhile in Bradford Road, Clayton, fewer than ten homes are affected by outages, and Northern Powergrid has said it is still reviewing how long it will take for power to be restored.

The outage has been caused by an unexpected problem with cables and equipment in this area, Northern Powergrid said.

If there is an emergency people are advised to call 105.
