MORE than 150 new trees have been planted in Wilsden in honour of the Queen.

Wilsden Parish Council worked with Keighley-based YORgreen to help plant over 160 trees and shrubs in the Aire Valley Riding Club’s field in Wilsden.

A team that included YORgreen representatives, Sue Downs, Mary Holland and Wilsden parish councillors Tony Caunt and Peter Ketley planted a selection of hawthorn, wild cherry, bird cherry, hornbeam, silver birch, rowan and alder on a bright sunny day.

The trees will commemorate H.M. The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee year and The Queen’s Green Canopy.

Wilsden Parish Council have been awarded a green plaque in recognition of their initiative to contribute to the Queen and Prince Charles’s appeal to plant trees to counteract global warming.
