A BRADFORD man has appeared in court for stealing more than £1,500 worth of cigarettes from two cash and carry stores.
Raza Ali, 48, of Aireville Road, was given a community order for two charges of theft from a shop.
In the first charge, he stole cigarettes and tobacco, worth £880.80, from Batley's Cash and Carry Warehouse, Skelton Grange Road, Stourton, Leeds, on December 7, 2021. He was also ordered to pay a £95 victim surcharge and £85 costs for this charge.
In the second charge, Ali stole cigarettes, worth £720, from Bookers Wholesale, Shearbridge Road, Bradford, on January 31, 2021.
Under the terms of his community order, Ali must have treatment for drug dependency for six months and must carry out 240 hours unpaid work in the community over the next 12 months.
Ali pled guilty to both charges and was sentenced at Bradford & Keighley Magistrates' Court on January 19, 2022.
