A BOMB squad were sent to a scene in Pudsey this morning.

The Army bomb disposal experts in assistance with police removed some highly dangerous fireworks, that are banned for sale to the public, from a storage unit at the Grangefield Industrial Estate.

A cordon was put in place for public safety whilst this was happening.

It is an offence for anyone other than professionals to possess the category four fireworks that were found.

The cordon is no longer up but a scene remains in place.

A police spokesperson said: "Shortly before 10.30am today, officers attended a storage unit at the Grangefield Industrial Estate, Pudsey, and found a quantity of suspected Category four display-type fireworks.

"A cordon was put in place for public safety while Army bomb disposal experts attended to assist with their safe removal.

"The cordon has now been removed and a scene remains in place.

"Category four fireworks are banned for sale to the public and it is an offence for anyone other than fireworks professionals to possess them.

"Enquiries are continuing into explosives offences resulting from the find."
