AN elderly paedophile who was found guilty of sexually assaulting a child has been spared jail by magistrates.

Phillip Moisey, 70, of Welbeck Drive, Great Horton, denied intentionally touching a boy under the age of 13 in a sexual manner on August 27, 2020.

He had pleaded not guilty to the offence on April 23 last year but in a summary trial at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court on December 3 he was found guilty of the offence.

At his sentencing hearing on January 4, the paedophile was handed a six month prison sentence, which was suspended for two years.

He was also ordered to sign the sex offenders' register for seven years, and ordered to partake in a maximum of 30 rehabilitation activity requirement days, and ordered to pay compensation of £800.

He was not required to pay costs or a surcharge to victim services as compensation took priority.
