FOUR men have arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a man died in crash near the M606 at Bradford this morning.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the fatal road traffic collision at Cleckheaton earlier this morning.

The incident happened shortly after 5am when a silver Hyundai Terracan travelling on Whitehall Road, in the direction of Chain Bar roundabout, left the road and came to rest in a nearby field.

One of the male occupants sadly died at the scene. Four other male occupants suffered minor injuries and have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

It is believed that a further male occupant of the vehicle left the scene before police attended.

Anyone who may have seen the incident, the circumstances leading up to it or how the vehicle was being driven prior to the collision, or who may have video footage is asked to call West Yorkshire Police’s Major Collision Enquiry Team on 101, quoting ref 300 of 22/1.

FATAL Road Traffic collision closes a major route this morning.

West Yorkshire Police are dealing with a collision in which, at least one person has died resulting in lengthy closures this morning in #Bradford near #Wyke and #Scholes.

The #A58 Whitehall Road remains closed in both directions from #Chain Bar Roundabout at the #M62 and #M606 to the junction of Brach Road as Police deal with the incident.

Roads Policing officer remain at the scene supported by Collision Investigation Teams after one vehicle has ploughed through a fence, demolished a street light, before overturning into a field.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service dispatched numerous resources to the scene, but despite best efforts, at least one person has sadly lost their life at the scene.
