A NEW pilot scheme to help parents with school uniform costs has been introduced in Bradford.

The scheme called Uniform Savers is being funded by Bradford Council to help single parent families get into the habit of saving, and save for children's uniforms ready for the new school year in August 2022.

People who sign up for the scheme will deposit £10 into an account each month, and Bradford Council will then pay £100 into the account in August.

To be eligible, you must be a single parent receiving Child Benefit (CHB), pay council tax to Bradford Council and live in the Bradford District, be able to set up a standing order with your bank to save £10 a month and attend an account opening interview.

The website states that 'you will you will not be able to access UniformSavers savings before August 2022'
