A CAR dealership in the Bradford district has been fined £1,000 for failing to respond to a police query.

Northgate Cars, in Beta Works in the Keighley area, was found guilty of failing to provide police with the identity of a driver who was alleged to have committed an offence last year.

The case was heard at Harrogate Magistrates' Court on Tuesday (January 18).

It related to a request made at the Traffic Bureau in York by, or on behalf of, the Chief Officer of Police for North Yorkshire, on Thursday, October 14, 2021.

The request was for information from Northgate Cars relating to the identification of the driver of a red Vauxhall Insignia VRM, who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

A representative for Northgate Cars did not attend the trial and the firm was proved guilty in its absence.

The company was ordered by the court to pay £1,185 in total.

This includes a £1,000 fine, a £100 surcharge to fund victim services and costs of £85.

The balance must be paid by February 15.
